Seven Car# Off at a Fill Near Cor bett# Mill in Colquitt. The south bound train on the At lantic and Birmingham was wrecked near Corbett’s mill yesterday after' noon, seven cars having been derail ed and smashed up In a heap. The cars left the track while the train was going at a pretty high rate of speed and the wreck was disas : trous to the cars and freight, one was injured In the wreck. A large number of hands soon set to work clearing the track but it was not until this morning that it was possible for trains to pass the scene of the wreck. The north bound train last night was held up at the wreck and waited for the arrival of the south bound train when the crews were transfer red from one train to the other and they backed out to their starting point. The train from Thomasville was delayed some this morning, but it was able to pass the wreck about eleven o’clock.—Moultrie Observer. He was unable to remove them and led her to the police station. Sergeant Whitman in trying to un' lock the handcuffs only tightened them until the circulation of blood was stopped in the girl’s hands and It became necessary to file the hand cuffs off, the woman suffering keenly in the meantime. LUCAS GREEN NOT GUILTY Jury at Brunswick Against Defendant on Murder Charge. Brunswick, Ga., Dec. 19—Lucas Green, charged with the murder of Isaac Smith last May, was today ad judged not guilty. When the court opened this morning it was well un derstood that the jury had agreed up- a verdict yesterday, but it could not be delivered until the return to the city of Judge Parker, who had gone to Baxley, his home, to spend Sun day. It was announced by the foreman of the Jury that a verdict of not guil ty had been reached. Immediately there was a rush for the exit and the news spread rapidly throughout the city among Green’s friends and rel atives The crime of which lie was charg ed was committed at the plant of the Mutual Light and Water company, and was the result, it was charged, of the circulation of a damaging re port. Green denied the story and endeav ored to get Smith to retract his state ment. He visited Smith several times In the attempt to persuade him to sign a statement exonerating Green but Smith, It Is said, refused to do so. A fusilade of shots wns heard but no one witnessed the shooting. Smith fell mortally wounded and Green Reived two wounds which were not dangerous. In Smith’s statement, just before dtfctta he charged Green with having slipped up behind him and fired.
