An Interesting and Pleasant Occasion
on Last Saturday.
Cat Creek, Ga., Feb. 20.—The Box
Dinner at King’s Chappel Saturday
was attended by a large crowd. The
exercises began at 10 a. m., and
the program was as follows:

At 11 o'clock the boxes were sold
at auction to the hlgest bidder. The
boxes brought $26.S0.
After the boxes were 6old, the old
folks spread their dinner under the
pines and every body was Invited to
come forward and help themselves.,
After dinner was over Mr. W.

mentioned above, we laid 7,070
square yards of cement side walks.
While we have reason to be proud of
the paved streets, yet the best work
we did was laying wide and uniform
sidewalks. To fully appreciate
these, It Is only necessary to visit
some of our more pretentious neigh*
boring cities and note the superiori
ty of our side walks. We have also
laid 2,073 square yards of vitrified
brick side walks, but would not ad
vise the 1/lying of any more of this
kind. If tie new administration can
pave Soutl Patterson street to the
Georgia 8<^ithern depot, no town ot
its size will present a better appear
ance than the "Metropolis of the
Wiregrass.”
In concluding this report, I desire
to acknowledge the intelligent, en
ergetic and valuable assistance of
His Honor, the Mayor, who, with the
City Engineer, and myself composed
a special paving committee. I wish
also to commend City Engineer
Gainey for his faithfulness and com
petency. To his skill in establish'
ing the grades is due the splendid
appearance and drainage or the pav
ing, and to his watchfulness is large
ly due the faithful performance of
the contract.
