Atlanta, March 27.—The Wheeler
Memorial held here today was at
tended by nearly eight hundred vet
erans. Addresses were made by
prominent representatives of the vet
erans’ organizations of both the north
and south
A heavy rain made It necessary to
cut out the splendid parade planned
to preceed the addresses at the opera
house. The auditorium was hand'
somely decorated with the national
colors, and the main floor was crowd*
ed with veterans. The boxes were
reserved for the honored guests of

Straws show the way the wind
blows, a microscopic examination of
several dozen sprigs of peaches on
Steutdrt Davis’ large orchard near
Macon yesterday showed that proba*
bly not more than 20 per cent and
perhaps much less damage had been
done. This argued well for the safe
ty of the whole fruit crop of south
Georgia.
The sprigs were plucked after yes
terday morning’s frost and were ex
amined in Macon by Mr. Davis and
E. J. Willingham, one of the largest
peach growers located here Mr. Wil* {
Iingham said afterward that as few |
as 5 per cent, showed positive signs
of having been hurt, and; Judging
from these specimens he estimated
the loss among peaches similarly
situated to Mr. Davis’ to be not

prietors of tho Valdosta Meat Mar
ket, has this day been dissolved by
mutual consent. J. W. Davis has
sold his Interest In the business to
G. F. Huckaby, to whom all ac
counts due the firm should be paid,
nnd who will pay the Indebtedness
of the firm.
