Death of Df. *. W. Lana.

A telegram waa received here thla
morning by Mr. John Lane announc
ing the death of hit uncle, Doctor B.
W. Lane, at lllllen, Georgia. Dr.
tame waa the oldest brother of Mr.
ft. Y. Lane, of this city, being elg*
ty-two years of age. Several week*
ago, while recovering /from an attack
of pneumonia he happened to a fall
which resulted In dislocating his hip.
Owing to his very advanced age he
never recovered from the injury and
his death occurred yesterday after
noon, or last night.
He was raised In Emanuel county
and was a practicing physician, be
ing one of the best known men In
that section of the state. He was a
large property owner and a very
strong character. He had visited
Valdosta quite a number of times and
was very well known to the older
residents of this city. He w'as hale
and hearty up to the time of the ill-
nesfv which preceded the accident,
and hut for that unfortunate occur
rence many more years ml^ht have
been spared him.
Mr. R. Y. Lane, of this city, had

but owing to Illness In his own

The Rain Last Evening
There was a splendid rain here
yesterday afternoon and again today,
and the showers came In good time

Inman Jones Jnjured,
Engineer Inmiyj ^ones, of the At

In the hospital at Waycross. He was
in an accident at Thomaavllle some
time ago and his ankle was badly

A Two Horses Left Home.
Honorable E. J. McRee was In tho
city early this morning looking after
two bay mares that strayed from the
Perry place, two miles below his home

Lost His Home by Fire.
The home of Mr. Dan Tucker, In

Birthday Party at Olympia.
Olympia, Ga., April Id—’Little Miss
Mable Clair Barnard was nt home to
,ter many little friends Monday after-
new'of last week celebrating her
third birthday.
At four o’clock the little folks be
gan to gather and as they came the
little hostess greeted them with an

come to my birthday party." said she.
Shu received them on the lawn and
then they played many games, the
good, old-time ones, as "Goosy-gander,
"Neighbor," "Many Stars", etc
The helghth of the good times was

low violet and white.| The .dining
room was a vision of fairy land to
the little folks. Suspended above the
tattle was a hell In the three colors
From this bell was dropped white and
yellow ribbons with bunches of violets
the end, resting on the table, and
many were the exclnmatlona of de<
light as each little tot drew,the hoys
drawing tops and tile girls dollies
dressed In violet and yellow. The
table was strewn with fresh violets
and at either end were three yellow
and white candles typical of hed
birthday. During the drawing delict
the color scheme with yellow and
white and violet'ices with the white
Iced diamond shaped cakes.
At six o'clock the little folks hid
their little hostess good-bye, saying
they wished birthday parties come
every day. >
The little lady was the recipient of
many beautiful presents.
