First Lieut Frank Screven has found it Impossible rf> continue in the service and his re tirement will remove the name fiom the rolls of the Guards for the first time In half a century and from the state military service for more than a century. It is doubtful if another family in the state has such a record for long service. The Knights of Khorassan. From the present outlook the most prominent thing at the Knights of Pythlans Grand Lodge convention in Augusta next week is going to be the Knights of Khorassnn. Jemlah Temple of Savannah and Kilba Tem ple of Atlanta will bo present In large numbers and oik Wednesday night after the session of, the grand lodge Is over there will be an Initiation There will be a street parade In Au gusta on Wednesday afternoon. Many Knights from this section of the state have signified their inten tion of going to -Augusta especially > the Knights of Khorassan 'There will be two hundred jHyopte at least fo go from Savannah to Augusta. Notes From 8avannah. Two excellent and very well known ladies died In Savannah yesterday, kfra. Sarah Kllxaboth Gronson, the mother of^Mr. W. D. Krenson of tho J. D. Weed Company and of Mrs. llarcus 8. Baker, wife of the Chat ham county receiver of tax returns, was one, and Mrs. Chns K. Wakefield the other.
