McDonald Took Blame to Hlmeelf
In Dying Statement
(From Tuesday’s Dally.)
Tho Times printed yoBterday an ac
count of the death of Col. W. W.
McDonald, a well known lawyer of
Douglas, hilt at that time It was not|
known here how,he was killed. I
Later reports indicate that ho was
shot to death by William T. Gilpin,
a lumber Inspector, at Vldalln, Sunday
night. In the Rimes hotel. Ten shots
wore fired at McDonald from two re
volvers, four of which took effect.
There are different stories about the
trouble. From the best wo can learn
Will Gilpin and his wife have been
separated at times ami Gilpin had sued
her for a divorce. Mrs. Gilpin linil
employed Col. McDonald to defend
her. It Is claimed that she had writ
ten Col. McDonald to moot her at
Vldalla last night. He came but
she and her husband had made friends

Numbers Sunday Afternoon and the
Ladies Were on Hand Yesterday.
All Were Greatly Pleated at the
Comforts and Conveniences.
(From Tuesday’s Dally.)
Dr. Holmes Sanatorium Is now 'com
plete In every particular and It Is
crowded with patients from all over
tho South, from Houston, Tex.
the southernmost borders of Florida.
Tho formal apening was held Sun
day afternoon and yesterday, a large
number of people visiting the place
and making a close Inspection of it.
The men were on. hand Sunday after
noon, from 3 to 5 o’clock, and the
ladies were present yesterday from
3 to 6.
Holmes had stated some time
ago that he wanted the Valdosta peo
ple to visit the place as soon as the
carpenters finished their work and
the building was turned over to the
purpose for which It is to be used In
tho future. The sanatorium has been
open for patients for some time, but
it was not completed by a good deal.
Large crowds of men visited the In
stitution Sunday and many ladles
were present yesterday. The vis*
Itors were taken In charge by Dr.
Holmes or some of the nurses and
were shown all over the place. There
were nineteen patients in the institu
tion Sunday and twenty on Monday.
Four or five states were represented
In tho number and all of them were
getting along well. Several were
dismissed today, but others were taken
In, keeping the building filled almost
to its full capacity.
It is doubtful If there Is a sanato
rium in the country more thoroughly
equipped or better conducted than la
this new Valdosta Institution. The
rooms are all models of neatness and
comfort, perfectly ventilated and ar
ranged with a view to securing the
most perfect hygenlc value.

ments, bandages and absorbent cotton
etc., are kept in air tight glass cases
and are absolutely free from germs of
any kind, even if a germ could endure
under the clean and healthy environ
ment of the other departments. •
The visitors to the institution were
delighted with what they saw and they
were greatly impressed by the praise
which all of the patients were show

sistants .
The sanatorium Is particularly for
tunate In Its corpos of nurses, all of
whom wero trained In the best schools
and who have had wide experience.
