The roll call of camps showed that
the velrans from all sections of tho
state were represented at the con
vention. The report of Gen. C. M.
Wiley was listened to with close at
tention. It was carefully prepared
and showed that-the .veterans of the
state are keeping In close touch with
their atate organization and that new
camps are being added each year to
the roster.

The meeting of the Sea Island Cot
ton Growers Association, which la to
be held at Lake City on November the
23rd I« to be a called meeting and not
a regular meeting of the association.
Tho meeting Is to bo a very Impor
tant one, however, and It may mean
much to the sea island cotton grow
ers. Delegates from Lowndes cun-
ty will be appointed at a county
meeting to bo held at the court bouse
here next Saturday. Major Varno-
doe, the chairman of the county as
sociation, Is anxious for a large crowd
to moot a* that time as the effects of
the meeting are much more telling
where thero is a large attendance.

elevator. She thought It was at the
landing and opened the door expecting
to step Into the car. Instead, however,
she stepped Into the open shaft.
