HOLIDAY GOODS IN ABOUT THE COURT FIRE FIEND VISITS
THE VALEK^TA TIMES*- SATURDAY, NOVEMBER 17, 1M6.
~ Mg. 1 ' : ” '
The Lines This Year are Much Hand
somer Than Usual and Many New
Novelties Have Been Received—
The Outlook for a Big Trade
Very Bright at Present ;
(Prom Wednesday’s Daily.)
The Valdosta merchants are engag
ed in opening up goods for the holi
day trade, and in a few days the
shelves, counters and tables will have
a display such as this section has nev
er seen before.
A well known dealer said last night
that It had been his observation dur-
- lng the past several years that Valdos-
ta people, and the shoppers who come
here to do their trading, get more
and more into the Christmas idea of
giving each year.
"There is an increasing demand for
handsome, and useful presents,’* he
said. ‘1 find that there is a great de
mand for toys and playthings for the
children, but the vast volume of mon
ey that Is spent on Christmas presents
goes for something that will be of
value when the holiday season Is pass
ed.”
Ano:her dealer, who was busily
engaged In opening up big boxes of
goods and putting them on display,
said: "You will And more new things
on sale this year than ever before.
There are new toys, new trinkets,
and novelties In all llpes. I will have
some things that I never saw or heard
of before. Most of them are made In
Germany and are direct from there.”
A great many people have learned
the art of buying early and thus get
ting the pick of the lot. Besides that,
they get to market before the rush
and are not so badly hurried la mak
ing their selections.”
Valdosta’s Christmas trade has al
ways been erormous, due to the fact
that Valdosta is recognized as the
best market in the country, and the
outlook for this year’s trade will be
better than In past years.
Shoppers ftjran all of the adjoining
towns will cofrid here to make their
best selections.
