The state convention of the Chris
tian churches began last night at 7:30
at the First Christian church of this
city.
Delegates -Tore arriving on all trains
throughout the day and by night tba,
list bad swelled to more than a hun
dred. The evening train from Ma
con brought over fifty delegates from
north and middle Georgia-
Many of the moat prominent Dis
ciples tn the state are here. The con
vention has opened very ausplolously.
It bids fair to be one of the best
conventions In the history of the
Christian churches of Georgia.

Lean, of Cincinnati, president of the
Foreign Christian Missionary Socie
ty;. Dr. E. I. Osgood, a missionary
to China; George B. Ranshaw, of
Cincinnati, secretary of the Ameri
can Christian Missionary Society;
James H. Mohorter, of St. Louis,
secretary of the National Benevolent
Association of the Christian church
es, and Miss Mattie Founds, of Indian

Deputy IT. 8. Marshal Ralph Myd-
delton went over to Mllltown on Sun
day and arrested two men wanted in
this county. They were Jack Law-
son white, and Dock Bennett, colored.
Bennett was wanted for gambling,
and Lawson for carrying concealed
weapons. Lawson gave bond and
was relessed. but Bennett wai brought
to Valdosta and put tn Jail.
