Meeting to be Held.
Seattle, Wash., July 9.—Seattle is
nearly all agog preparing for the In
ternational Christian Endeavor con
vention, which is to be formally open
ed in this city tomorrow. Every ar
riving train during the past twenty-
four hours has brought its quota of
delegates, and it is expected that by
tomorrow at noon 20,000 visitors will
be in the city to attend the proceed
ings of the convention.
Among the arrivals today were del
egations from Masachusetts, Texas,
Nebraska, Michigan, Colorado, Kan
sas, Indiana, New York, West Vir
ginia, Connecticut, the Dakotas, Ohio
and other States as well as several
of the Canadian provinces.
To accommodate the multitude the
capacity of the hotels has been tested

night was the beginning of a series
of social entertainments which will
mark the new administration.
The reception was given to mem
bers of the general assembly, their
wives, and a few invited guests be

The evangelical churches and many
residences and business houses have
been decorated in honor of the occa
sion, and the public buildings and
streets will be illuminated each night
during the convention, which will
last five days.
