THE VALDOS1
.SATURDAY, MAY 16, 1908.
Married
iWomen
Every woman corat* •
shapely, pretty figure, and
many of them deplore the
loss of their girlish forms
after marriage. The bearing
of children is often destructive
to the mother’s shapeliness.
All of this can be avoided,
however, by the use of Mother’* Friend before baby comes, as this
great liniment always prepares the body for the strain upon it, and
preserved the symmetry of her form. Mother’s Friend overcomes all the
danger of child-birth, and carries the expectant mother safely through
this critical period without pain. It is woman’s greatest, blessing.
Thousands gratefully tell of the benefit and relief derived from the
tue of this wonderful
remedy. Sold by all
druggists at $1.00 per
bottle. Our little
book, telling all about
this liniment, will be tent free.

A TIRED HORSE
Is just as able to do hard work as a man with an exhausted,
torpid liver. Constipation drags a long train of troubles
1 it. The machinery can’t work if the boiler doesn’t
behind i
make steam to move it If. the stomach and liver don’t do
their work, the body and brain can’t do their duty.
Lamar’s Lemon Laxative makes things right.
Works quietly, gently and effectively. Doesn’t torment the
k bowels. Follows nature’smethods with nature's remedies, i
Cures and tones up weakened liver and bowels. Makes rich, rod

There la much complaint against
bicycle riders on the sidewalk and
the police officers have been request
ed to arreet every violator. As a
rule however, violators will not ride
on the sidewalks when a policeman
is watching them, so it is "up to"
complainants to report violators so
that cases may. be made against
them.
Miss Ruth Candlish is getting up
a social directory of Valdosta, giving
the officers of all the societies here,
the names of members, etc. It will be
quite a useful book since Valdosta
Is getting so large that one cannot
keep up with these things.
Mr. H. H. Flowers has started a
factory for making axe handles, pick
handles, etc., employing six or seven
men. His plant is well equipped and
he Is turning out plenty of handles.
It Is a small industry, but It is the
small industries that count, and the
people ought to patronize them.
Melons Not so Promising.
It Is feared by some that the melon
crop has been seriously damaged In
Lowndes county this season. The
cool nights or, something else has
cgused the vines to wither and In
some fields they are dying. About
two hundred acres have been planted
in melons in the neighborhood of
Ousley station and some say now
that they fear very few will he made
for shipping.
The cantaloupe crop seems to be
more promising and If nothing hap
pens from now on quite a crop will
be harvested.

Mr. W. S. Rockwell, O v and Sccrc-
Republican Extravagance.
In a speech delivered in the. Sen
ate, April 23, Senator Alrich declar-
edf that the appropriations carried
in bills already passed or pending
were 100 million dollars greater than
4hose of last year, not counting the
20 million carried this year in the
Public Buildings bill,, which brought
the total up to over 120 millions. He
said, too, that there is now a prob
able deficit of $60,000,000 for the pres
ent fiscal year. How do you like the
Republican financial program brother
taxpayers that plunders the many for
the benefit of the few?
For Disorderly Conduct.
