The mayor and council held their
regular meeting yesterday afternoon
at the council chamber. All of the
members of the council were present,
though Mayor Roberts was absent
from the city. In his absence, Mayor
Protem M. R. Ousley presided.
There were quite a number of mat
ters before the council, most of them
being of a routine nature and were*
turned over to committees. These iFire department

mittee asking that Chief Brooks 'be
reinstated. The investigation was
quite rigid, and he was reinstated by
a practically Unanimous vote of the
council.

Mrs. Sandlin of Jasper, Dead. *
Undertaker J. P. Ulmcw returned
this morning from Jasper, Flo., where
he went last night to embalm the
body of Mrj. P. D. Sandlin, who died
at h< r home In that city yesterday af
ternoon at 4 o’clock. Mrs. ^Sandlin
was a sister of -Mrs. John F. Smith,
of Valdosta. Her remains will be
burled In the city eemtery at Jasper
this afternoon.
