County Wins In Road Case.
At the hearing in Thomasvilie Sat
urday of the road tax oase from this
county, the judge dissolved the tem
porary injunction which restrained
the county commissioners from pro
ceeding to collect the road tax levied
this year.
The Injunction proceedings were
being pushed by Attorney J. A.
Wilkes and the county's interests
were in the hands of Attorney Way.
This ends the matter so far as the
Superior court is concerned but
Judge Wilkes stated to the Observer
this morning that It is his intention
to appeal the case to the Supreme
court. He has twenty days In which
to file his papers, but he says he will
proceed on this line at the proper
time.—Moultrie Observer.
THE WOMEN OF TURKEY.
They are Clamoring for a Greater
Degree of Freedom.
London, Oct. 27.—Discussing the po
sition of women under the new con
dition in Turkey a Constantinople cor
respondent of a London Journal
points out that many of the modern
Turks are monogamists, and that
they live at home much after the
manner of Europeans. "But” he
goes on to say, "The women want
more; they want to institute home
life, and many have done so already.
They also desire to receive visi
tors without restriction and adopt
more becoming dress in public. The
educated Turks have no objection to
this provided the change is not too
quick, as they also have mixed in
foreign society and feel the want of
ladles in Turkish society.
If it remained with this class alone
the change would come rapidly, but
there are the common classes and the
country people, who cannot under
stand it, and can never imagine any
change by which their women folk
should be anything else than what
they have been for centuries.
