The Great Music Festival,

lias been secured for this city on the
24th of April, afternoon and night,
will be an event that few cities tu

pieces. This orchestra will, remain

other part of the book bad burned to
a whitish ash and fell apart when

chapter referred to was preserved.
: This remarkable thing so appeal

lodge that It was decided to preserve
the relle In a permanent form, and
for this purpose tbe page containing
the chapter has been placed In
glass case, to become a part of tbe
valued property of the lodge. It will
be placed In their lodge room and
-pointed out hereafter as the evidence

of the Harvard Club at the Hotel

grain In Georgia. The oata w
shipped to the Albany Grocery Com
pany by the P. P. Williams Grain
Company of St. Louis,' through the
Dan Joseph Company of Columbus,
Ga.
Inspector Methvln took sample* cf
the oats which had been shipped to
the Albany house and paid for by It
as number three white oats, anfl
found. It is stated, that they contain
ed 25 to 35 per cent of barley floats,
which are almost entirely without
food value. The sacks , were not
branded to show the adulteration*.
Inspector Methvln says he has en
tered on a vigorous campaign to
break up the shipment Into the state
of spurious grain, which -has hither
to come in unhindered.

$20,000 damages, in commissioned*
court at Waycross today. /

oentract entered into in March, 1907,
by jWhich Herrltt was to buy a saw
mill from Dr. Revel. The mill was
located at Pearson. Shortly after
the miking of the contract the lum
ber market declined, and it is alleg
ed that Herrltt backed down on, the
proposition. Suit was filed In the
United States Court In Pennsylvania:

Sheriff Came For Prisoner.
The high sheriff of Laurens coun
ty was here on Sunday after Dudley
Newsome, the big negro who was
arrested by Sheriff Passmore last
Friday while waiting at th« Georgia
Southern train to meet his wife. The
Laurens official says that Newsome
two miles to two or three different
charges, most of them for mortgag
ing property that did not belong to
him and other species of eheaUng
and swindling.
It was. said that he. jjortgaged
two mules ot two or three different
merchants and secured several hun
dred dollar* worth of goods out of
them. Newsome had decided to lo
cate in South Georgia and was look
ing tor his family to Join him when
he was picked up by tbe sheriff.

The Mexican gunboat Gen. Guerrero,
