The many friends of Dr. Louis
nruslc teacher of Macon, roamed
.about on Florida avenue at Jack
sonville at an early hour on Mon
day morning until he was arrested
by Mounted Policeman Freeman. At
police headquarters, where he was
docketed shortly after 1 o'clock, the
man gave the name of W. B. Car
glle, and "Insanity” was written op
posite the word "charge.”
To Desk Sergeant Roberts, Car
«lle explained that he had suffered
a sunstroke in his younger days
and had passed through a siege of
brain fever. It Is supposed that, If
-these statements bo true, the man
Is at times demented, accounting for
his strange behavior during the
! night. This morning he' was taken
to the county Jail, after he had been
supplied with clothing at the police
headquarters and will, await an In
vestigation of his sanity.
Forgot His Address.
Carglle has been In the city for
over a month, but he could not re
member his local address, giving
only that of Macon. Inquiry at th g
local hospitals failed to find any
trace of Carglle’^ movements there
and as yet the police have not found
his stopping place here.
Since June 6th, when It was found
-on a Phoenix Park car, a dress suit
-case, bearing letters of recommend
ation and Introduction and the name
of W. S. Carglle, has been at the
headquarters. Through this means
It was learned that Carglle Is a
music teacher and that he came to
Valdosta. The Doctor was taken
sick about three weeks ago, and Dr.
Talley carried him to the hospital
where he could receive expert at
tention.
Dr. Patten and family spent Mon
day In Valdosta, using his touring
car for the trip.

away Tuesday morning at the resi
dence of Mrs. Hopkins. Mrs.

Savaanah, Ga., July 14.—It Is ex
pected City Council will pass an or
dinance ihls afternoon regulating the
keeping of cows In the city limits*
There has not been much of a pro
test against the proposed ordinance
since it was first Introduced two
weeks ago. The plan of tho aider-
men Is to conllno the keeping of
cows to yards of a certain size and
which can ha kept clean.

Young Man Succumbed to Blocd
Poison After Eight Days Illness.
Mr. Perry Register, a son of Mr.
Orrln Register of thla county, died
at his father's home about four miles
from Habl-a, this morning at t
o'clock. Mr. Register wee 22 yean
old, and one of the most popular
young men in that section. He had
numerous frlenda ln the northern
part of the county where he was rear
ed, and also in Valdosta, who will
be pained to hear of his untimely
death,
Mr, Register's death was caused
by* blood poison, and he was tick
only eight days. A short time since
a small boll appeared on the bot
tom of one of hie feet, tho Infection
speeding frorA this and developing
Into a malignant case of blood pois
oning. Dr. Smith, of Hahlra treated
the young man, and also called Dr.
Little of Valdosta Into consultation,
but It was Impossible to stay the
disease.
The funeral and Interment will oc
cur at fat Creek on Thursday morn-
