wings of the wind, borne upon the

ters from many influential persons
in Hsrrls county, Georgia, where
the alleged crime was committed,
from Dsnvllle, where Stripling, un
der the name of R. E. Morris, was
a respected cltison up to the time
ofvhis recent arrest, and from var
ious points In Nirth Carolina where
ho worked after hie escape from
prison and up to |he time of his
removal to Danville.
The application for the pardon,^
however ,1s not without opposition.
