ntsday Rives the following account
of the second day’s session of the
district conference which Is being
held there:
"The second day of the Valdoeta
District Conference of the Methodist
church was opened this morning at
9 o'clock with devotional exercises
conducted by Rev. J. C. Postell.
"With the delegates of this morn
ing's arrivals the roll shows more
than 115 present. The business of
the conference will likely be com
pleted by tbe eloeo of tomorrow
morning’s session.
"The following are among
more Important Items of business
transacted by tbe conference up Ho
thlr time: At the dose of last
nlicht'a session the conference gave
President Malone $515 for Andrew
College. The conference also voted
'o raise $1,000, the amount-of the
ludobtedncas on the district parson
age located at Valdosta. Col. L. D.
Passmore, of Sylvester, was elected
lay leader for the district. The Hat
of local preachers was called, their
characters passed, and those who
bare not been ordained had their li
cense renewed. The name of Rev.
F. E. H. McCall, of Sparks charge,
was called and his character was
parsed, but his license was not
nowed. Ashburn was chosen as the
next place to hold the district con
ference. Reports from the pastoral
charges are not all iln, but those from
which the conference has heard show
marked signs of progress along all
lines. Increased Interest In the ed
ucational work of the church, ad
vancement In the amount raised tor
both home and foreign missions and
rovivals In many churches are among
the signs of progress
"Preliminary to the licensing of ap
plicants for license to preach, Dr.
W. C. Lovett, editor of the Wesleyan
Christian Advocate, delivered at 11
o clock a strong message on the Oos.

At the close of his sermon Rev. J.
A. Smith, agent of the South Georgia
Conference Orphans’ Home at Macon,
addressed the conference and took
an offering for the boms amounting
to some $100.
