Mrs. W. L. Sherwood, who was «o
badly burned at the family home on
Central arenue about two weeks
ago. died reeterdajr afternoon about
3 o'clock at the Bellerlow Hospital,
where she has been since the acci
dent.
At the time the accident occurred
nobody seemed to know eiactlr bow
it happened and the published re
port of it came from the residence
and from parties residing In the
Feme house. Mrs. Sherwood, Inter
on, told how the accident happen' d
and It was quite different from tbs
way It was reported.
She was not building a Are with
the kerosene oil, but had some wood
alcohol poured out Into a howl and
was going to use It cleaning some
clothing. The alcohol waa on the
kitchen table close to the store, but
Mrs. Sherwood did not know that
there was any Are In the store or
that the alcohol was likely to catch.
It was probably the gases arising
from

catch on Are and explode. The burn
ing liquid was scattered all ov«r the
room and- Mrs. Sherwood's dress
caught on Are from It. Her Inju
ries were known to be rery aerere

Oliver’s Porter Arrested.
A young nsgro boy who works for
w. M. Oliver, we* arrested hy one
of the police last night on a charge
made by a local merchant accualng
the boy of ateallng a nickel. The
bo,, waa placed In the city prleon
until a warrant could be sworn out
for him, the warrant charging him
with obtaining money under felee
pretense or something else about aa
bad.
It appear* that the boy and anoth
er negro boy carried a package to
a lady on Central avenue. The
woman wanted to glvo on* of the
boy* a nickel for a loaf of bread,
hut gave the nickel to the wrong
boy. who happened to b« Oliver’,
