fertile vallies of the Coosa, the TallapoosH, and the
Upper Chattahoochie. together with the salubrious
and very productive uplands of Talladega, the latter
of which will in all human probability be peopled by
a more dense population than any country of like ex
tent south of the Potomac. Tbe entire bill country
of these regions, abounds in quarries of Marble, Lime
stone nnd in fact all kinds of mineral wealth. As re
spects tlie contemplated connexion of the waters of
the Tennessee with those of the Alabama; if by Canal,
it will have its embouclnnent; if by Rail Road, imme
diately at this spot will terminate one of its extremi
ties. The well known advantages of this place ren
der., further remarks unnecessary, other than to say
that to the capitalist it offers a desirable opportunity
for profitable investment—to the merchant it offers
advantages for nil extensive trade—to the mechanic,
the allurement of what must soon become a flourish
ing town, not of ephemeral existence, but ot a perma
nent and daily increasing importance—to the planter,
a desirable aud pleasant town residence, convenient
to tbe alluvial bottoms of t'le Coosa, the Alabama and
the Tallapoosa. In addition to which, it will un
doubtedly, at no remoti ieriod, become the location
