tor Bowen’s sweet wine is luscious, aud but lit
tle inferior to number the.second.
And tlie specimens of Cant. Sullivan afford a
pleasing evidence of the progressive culture and
manufacture of the article. But what is better
than all is the speedy prospect of the total aban
donment of the use of ardent spirits ; for none
but perverted tastes could prefer tiie latter to the j quickly removed
healthful delicious drink qY the former..
'There was some hesitation iu deciding between
Mr. Diciner’s and Col. Alexander's, hut there
was n racinencss and vinous flavor about tho first
that boro pff the palm. The first wine was rep
resented as having been produced from a seedling
vino of very flourishing growth, and perhaps
suggests the best hint fqr obtaining a variety of
improved grapes and vines adapted to our own
climate.

BOTTS IN HORSES.

Bartlett—I have lately seen published,
several medical directions for tho cure of Butts
iu horses; and as t do not like any of them 1
think 1 can prescribe a more certain and effeelu-
ai remedy. The several publications that 1 havo
seen arc not deadly enough in their operations
to destroy the holts. It is well known that the
hotts are not easily removed or destroyed, and
when they commence their operations, they will
in a little time kill the horse unless they aro

idle ami ineffectual, anti as well calculated lo
cure the Spavin or Big Head, as to kill or de
stroy the operations of the Botts. They hold
with considerable tenacity to their prey, and if
nothing more deleterious and quick in its opt ra
tions is applied than fish brine, hickory ashes spi
rits and molasses, or chicken guts they will soon
destroy the horse. The only certain cure is Nux
Vomica. When it is discovered that the botts

four bitYtriiiiuf Nnx Vomica, rasp them up, put
them into a quart tiottle, pour into the liottln :i
