It is na disparagement to any other branch of the.

United Stnt's Bunt:.—The National Ga
zette of Saturday last contains the report of the
Lulled States, on the subject of tho removal
of the depasites, and the reasons assigned for
that measure, in the fiajiers of 1*resident Jack-
son and the Government Directors. The re
port occupies twelve columns of the -Gazette,
we can therefore at present give but an imper
fect notice of its contents. It betrins by attri
buting the hostility of Gen. Jackson to the
Bauk to the failure of au attempt, made early
in his administration, to make tlie management
of the institution subservient to political pur-
|loses. It proceeds to discuss the reasons as
signed for the removal of tlie deposites, and
tlie question of the President’s authority. It
maintains that the act is an illegal exercise of
authority and proceeds to show that the rea
sons assigned for it are unfounded.—These
reason- are examined in detail, and some im
portant misstate in enrs of fact in the two docu
ments are exposed. On tlie subject of the
expenditures for printing, to influeuce thr elec
tions, tlie report slates that the Government
Directors must have perceived, that of tlte
eighty thousand dollars which they represt nt
as expended, for these objects, $24,591 were
expending for making and printing bank notes;
$ 1848 for blank forms and other necessary
papers; $6053 for books, and stationary, and
$653 for various miscellaneous expenses. It
states that as the general result of the investi
gation of the committee on this subject, that
in four years the bank has been obliged to in
cur an expense of $58,000 dollars, to defend
COTTON MARKETS.
Liverpool, Nov. 9. j
Otir Cotton market has this week been sub- j
jert to an extraordinary decree of languor and j
depression. About 15 hundred b iles of Mar- j
aunain were announced a few days ago for pub- ;
lie sale yesterday, and the bringing of this par- !
tieular description to the hammer, after so j
short a notice, contrary to all usage, was calcu- '
latcd to produce, as it has really done, a para- I
lizing edi ct. Rather more than one half was j
allowed to go at prices fully Id. below the quo- i
tations lor last Sauturday. Other descriptions, j

in consequeuce of the supplies taken hi uco by
the trade during this interval of eleven weeks.
At present we have to meution too the arrival
of 3537 hags ot cotton, consisting cheitly of
the new crop, from Charleslou aud Savannah,
as an additional cause of stagnation, ou ac
count of «he very early period at w hich it may
be said the import seasou has coinmeneed.
'■ Upland and Orleans have been in constant re-
quest hut of difficult sale, hut at the redaction of
£d. to Jd, in price. Sea Eland has been in
very limited demand, and h s partaken of the
fall in the other American sorts.
Nov. II.
Cotton—The market declined rapidly during
the week, and quotations generally were reduced
Id per lb.—The sales of tlie wiek, ioc tiding
95014, Maraohaiu.s w hich w ent off at a decline
of Jd peril*, and 40Peraams by public sale, a-
mount to 13.359 bags. Import 17,359 hags.
There has been a better feeling in the market
to day, which is unusually firm. The sales are
estimated at 3000 bags, at prices which could
not have obtained so recently as yesterday and
Thursday.
Nov 16—Saturday, 1 o’clock.
Nothing new in the cotton market, the de
mand confined to a few spinners’ orders, which
may probably amount from 800 to 1000 bags, a:
prices quite as towns yesterday. 30 Hatreds ot
the new crop, fetched’ 9jd, others iu the marki;
