from_ his pen. His iutiinate acquaintance with

Independently of his qualifications, 1 have as

fourth, he is equal to any of the rest.
V W u need be at no loss for, persous to fill the
Solaces of Wayne aud tichley in Congress. I
might mention a host, out will only suggest the
fujldwitig gentlemen : Jesse Ft Cleveland of De

Halsey of Harris, Jamts Smith of Joucs, AT. H.
McAllister of Chatham, John Batts and Henry
L. Sims of Hall; and Josiah S. Patterson of
Gariy—any of whom would do'eredit to ihestatc

I Mr.. Editor,—From the latest intelligence
j from Washington city, it is evident that the ap-
I pi'intraeut of the 5Iou. James M. Wayne to the
I .Supreme Bench will makc i it necessary for the
1 Union parly of Georgia to nominate soino oue
who may be acceptable toibe party, as a candi
date for tho executive chair of the State. In
such nomination we should keep steadily in pros
pect tins important object, “the concerted action
of the paity,” which, if it he obtained,- will so-
curo a successful result. Rut should iurernal
dtsseutiuus arise, by attempting with an honest
steal the advancement of those for whom wo en
tertain feelings of devoted friendship, from per
sonal considerations, without a pruilcut regard i
to tho statiou occupied by tho person who may
run as the car dictate in the estimation of bis po-' i

of tlie luiore, can be foretold, 1 should say that
