A T this time, when the spirit of speculation in land
is prevailing to an extent unprecedented in our
country, allow me to endeavor to direct public opin
ion front objects at a distance—contingent and doubt
ful in result, to those nearer home, which, from every
facility of information afford assurances, that at least,
possess some advantages to those who have their mon
ey to expend in adventures, that of ckrtxiktt. I will
say nothing in relation to patriotic consideration, which
should at least, so far influence our citizens us to in
duce them not to desert the land of their birth or adop
tion, unless, advantages of a superior character, be
held out to them; hut, 1 will address myself to their
interest alone. It is now two years since I passed

DR. STAGNER’S PATENT TRoo-
TbOBERT W. STEWART informs the citizen
settlers I occasionally met, respecting the qualities of
lands and the prospect of health. Being fa
vorably impressed with the country, I spent some time
in ni ikiug a personal examination as to tho extent of
the rich lands, the advantages the country possessed
in regard to water courses, tlie chance of erecting mills,
and what might be ultimately anticipated from the na
tural advantages when they should be fairly developed
aud appreciated, and I must say, my expectations were
more than fully realized. I immediately made some
purchases in Lee county on either side the Flint river,
about four miles above a place called Piudertown.—
Being convinced that this was the most eligible site for
a commercial town, and one that must possess nd- | j„ Knoxville, Crawford corruitv, till 26th instant; in I

that he will succeed E. M. Pendleton, who lias remo- i
ved to Charleston. S. C., in the application of Dr.
Stagner’s Patent Truss.
In all cases when a cure is not effected no remune-:
ration will he required. The fact, that many cures j
having been effected in the county of Warren, from
whom certificates have been exhibited, together front j
all tlie Physicians in the above county, render any ‘
thing further unnecessary to be said at this time.
Robt. W. Stewart may he seen and consulted at ’
Brown's Hotel, Milledgeviflc, from the filh to the 14th |
instant; in Macon, at Dr Ball’s office, till 21st but,
central location to a large body of rich land. The site
selected, is a beautiful eminence of pine land, and has
a hold blufl'upon the river. It is immediately upon
the post road from Augusta and the up country to
Florida. It will also have a State road passing thro’
it from Columbus to St. Marys, besides tlie numerous
thoroughfares that will be made from this ferry to com
municate with .different parts of the country.
Tiie counties of Lee, Sumter, and Baker, are on
Flint river, and abound in the most fertile lands that
are best adapted to tlie culture of cotton and corn. The
face ofthe country is level, the rich lands lying on or
in tho vicinity of water courses which are abundant Az.

and pine, while tlie first is always upon strong land—
