directors >f the American Grocery ompany
the regular sem-anuual cash dividend of 6
per cent, was declared up n the capital

A petition has been filed n the superior
court at Macon attacking the as
signment made by Mose Greeu and al.eg
ihg that it is null and void and
asking the appointment of a receiver to
take charge of the assets. The
petitioners allege that the assignment is

contrary to legality.

Macon Telegraph: Receiver Sparks of
the Georgia Southern and Florida will
leave to-morrow for Cyoloneta farm, where
he goes to start off the Georgia Southern’s
tobacco factory at that place to begin
operations to-morrow. The plant of oourse
is a small one as yet, but it solves the seri
ous difficulty f poor prices for the tobacco,
with which tbe growers here had to con
tend. They were all vary successful m
growing the crop aud met with bountiful
yields, Cyoloueta alone producing over 5,000
pounds on twentr two acres, hut they were
forced to sell in Virginia at from 5 to 12
cents. A factory has now been put up for
manufacturing a sort of twist plug, and
samples already received indicate that it
will turn out fine goods.
