Tlie Drig-gs’ Patent Piano Porte.
1 *m mw ready to answer the oft repeated Ques
tion, ‘‘Who makes the best Pianos ?" T answer
unqualifiedly, DRIGGS, PARMALEE 4 CO., ol
New York. I have been tuning Pianos 22 years, and
claim to understand tho instrument thoroughly. I
htivo been North expressly to ascertain who makes
tbo best Pianos. 1 have seen every part of tlie
Driggs Piano, and several other celebrated ones, in
process of being made. Tho Driggs piano farexcels
all others, in two very important particulars, viz :
volume and sweetness of tone, and capacity for stay
ing in tune. Tlie tone is produced a* much as pos
sible like the Violin, tliere being twosomiding-boards
convex outwards. The heavy, thick-planks, blocks
and braces are dona away with, so a chamber is
formed for sound. Tlie power snd sweetness of tone
is equal to that of the best Graud Piano.
The capacity l’or staying in tune depends oiea new
ly invented Iron Frame, or bed-plate, which sustains
all the strain, and is entirely free from tlie vibratory
part of the Instrument. There is n great improve
ment ill tbe manner of putting on tho Strings, they
nut being liable to rust or lo jar nt their bearings,
and iu the arrangement oflhe dampers. The flanges,
hammers, back catches, and every part of tho action
is made in a manner that cannot bo excelled. Tiio
following is from Thalbcrg:
•‘ Mr. S. B. Driggs—I have examined your uexv
Piano Forte, and cordially approve of its system ot
construction; its principles by which great increase
ol vibratory power is obtained, being very simple
and perfectly philosophical. Tbe tone is grand and
noble. It has great capacity foraus'aioing the sound
or singing, and its volume of tone, or power, I have
never heard excelled in depth, purity, and sympa
thetic sweetness. S.THALBERG."
Similar certificates have been received from Gots-
cba!k, Strakoscb, Mason nnd many other eminent
artists.
One of these instruments may be seen at Messrs.
Virgius. We shall bo able soon to fill orders not on
ly with theeo piano_s. but others of a very neat pat
tern—four large round corners, gothic legs, rose
wood, 6 octaves, so arranged that pieces can be
played on them the same as on tbe 7 octave pianos,
except on the lower bass notes. Also, 7 octave pi
auns of the same make and pattern, which we will
sell surprisingly cheap. Tbe Driggs piano will be
sold at about the same prices ss other pianos, accord
ing to finish of case.
I have the agency for the sale of these pianos for
the State of Georgia. Orders from any part of the
Stato will be promptly attended to.
