Montezuma, Oct. 24th, 1859.
Messrs. Avers, Wingfield 4- Co.:
Dkah SSins—Yours of the 13th inst., has been re
ceived, its contents noted, &c. In reply to your en
quiry in regard to tho Keese’s Manipulated Guano
as a fertilizer—I Am well pleased so far as I have
tested its use. I applied about loo lbs. per acre on
land that was badly worn, and not of the best when
fresh.’ Tho product of the field where the Guano
was applied is over 800 lbs. cf seed cotton per acre.
Tho same kind of .land without the Guano produced
about 400 lbs. per acre. My mode of applying the
Guano was by depositing it in the drill before bed
ding up tho land, I have not tried its use on corn,
