North; but that some man acceptable to both
sections should be selected as the standard-
bearer. The Times believes that “Mr. Guthrie,

the non-intervention line,' and then by -Mr.
John O. Snead on the line occupied by Mr.

Resolutions were offered by Mr. Smythc in fa
vor of Congressional intervention, as a substi
tute for the resolutions offered by Mr. Wm. II.
Pritchard at a previous meeting, as follows:
Whereas, the National Democratic convention, recent
ly assembled at the city of Charleston, has adjourned its
sittings to the city of Baltimore, where It will re-assem-
