Cotton.—It i* pretty generally conceded that tho
planting of Cotton will bo conducted npona much less
extended scale than that of last year—planters hav
ing determined, generally, to give more attention to
the cereals. Not satisfied with refusing to remove tho
unjust Cotton tax from the crop of 1807, tho Radical
Congress have gone still a step further—tbc House !
having passed a bill to remove the duty off foreign ‘
Cotton, and tho Senate Conference Committee report
favorably on the same—thus allowing, conclusively,
that they havo determined to complete the ruin of the
South, If possible. This will havo moro ’effect than all
tho arguments we could uso, to convince the planter
of the folly of the suicidal policy of raising Cotton ex
clusively.
We left our markot firm at the closo of our last

from Lirr'i ool and Now York—figures ranging from
1351 to U . cents for the better qnalitlw.
Our m* ct opened with a very active inquiry prin
cipally for the better qualities, which were oagerly
taken at cents. After tbo very favorable tclo-

holders ino-ti* withdrew from the market for an ad

RHEUMATISM CURED.
T HE UNDERSIGNED nA3 DETERMINED TO
PREPARE HIS
RHEUMATIC POWDERS
FOR SALE.
Tho unprecedented success of this Medicine in tho
uru of of this disease is best attested by the following
CErTIKICATES:
I do hereby certify that after suffering for thirty-
three years, with tho most excruciating pain from
Chronic Rheumatism, and finding no permanent relief
from any of tho many prescriptions given l«y different
physicians, I am now entirely well, not only of Rheu
matism itself, but likewise of its effects. This cure
was ctTcetod by a preparation styled "Lincho’s Anti-
Rheumatic Powders.’’ Of these Powders I took two
dozen, and havo not had any symptoms of my old
pains for three years. Tho effect upon me was like
magic. Within throe days after I had taken the first
powder, iny pains disappeared, and I havo been en
tirely clour of thorn up to tho present time.
To all suffering from Rheumatism I do heartily re
commend these Powders, confidently believing that
ou havo only to givo them a trial to secure a lasting
cure. Most respectfully.
JOHN LYNCH.
Eatonton, April 22, 1S55.
Wc, tho undersigned, oitizen3 of Putnam County,
Ga., chocrfully bear testimony to tho efficacy or
Linch’s Anti-Rheumatic Powders” in the treatment
of Acuto or Chronic Rheumatism, many eases having
boon successfully treated by Dr. J. G. Gibson, within
our personal knowledge, in which these powdors were
od exclusively.
