PROGRESS TAILORING CO., Dept 582 CHICAGO
(By Associated Press.)
NEW YORK, Feb. 17.—Cotton opened easy
at a decline of 0 to 14 points on weak Liverpool
cables and a renewal of the aggressive selling
movement which developed last week.
Private cables reporting that the south was
offering spots at easier prices, the long range
forecast for fair and warmer weather in the
belt, and unsettled political conditions iu Eu
rope and Mexico, evidently added to tne bear
ish average of local sentiment. Realizing by
recent sellers and a moderate spot demand ac-
countd for a rally of 6 to 7 points, but offer
ings continued heavy and the market during
the middle of the morning was unsettled, with
prices still ruling about 8 to 13 points net
lower. '
There was renewed liquidation and still more
.aggressive selling during the early afternoon
on reports of lower southern spot markets and
prices broke to a net loss of from 14 to 20
points. After tne execution of a few stop
orders prices rallied 2 or 3 points from the
lowest.
Tne market was rather less active late In
the forenoon and noon prices showed rallies of
5 or 0 points from the lowest on covering and
a little further support attributed to trade in
terests.

NEW ORLEANS COTTON
tBy Associated Press.'
NEW ORLEANS, Feb. 17,-^Cotton futures^
opened barely steady at a decline of 10 to 11'
points on poor cables, extremely favorable weath
er over the cotton region. Commission houses
sold freely around the call, which was taken
to mean that outsiders were getting out of long
cotton. Cables from Liverpool claimed that of
ferings of spots from the south were freer. At
the end of the first half hour of business prices
were 11 to 13 points down.
Toward the middle of the morning satisfied
shorts were heavy buyers of covers in order to
realize profits and their purchases checked the
decline and caused a reaction until the most
active months were only 5 to 6 points under
Saturday’s final figures. For a while the
market was dull but late in the morning bears
renewed their pressure and the market broke
quickly. At noon the trading months were 12
to 20 points 'under Saturday’s close.

COTTON MARKET OPINIONS.
Miller & Co.: We look for lower prices.
A. Norden & Co.: It looks as if there might
be /further liquidation this week regardless of
the ultimate cqurse of prices.
liaydeu, Stone & Co.: Sentiment became in
creasingly bearish during the decline Saturday
and. fresh buying will be needed to prevent fur
ther weakness.
Morris H. Rotoschild & Co.: We prefer the
short side temporarily.
Logan & Bryan: We feel that prices must
seek a lower level, unless startling trade de
velopments and serious damage to the crop
should present themselves.
Orvis Brothers & Co.: We think it only a
question of time when the relationship of sup
ply to demand will fail as an argument for the
bull, and *vnen a coincident revulsion of feel
ing will bring about long liquidation and lower
rices.

Cattle receipts normal, market active, prices
steady and stronger. Choice heavy steers are
scarce and in good demand. A good supply
of light fed steers from nearby feed lots were
among each day’s receipt.
Thomaston, Ga., sent in two loads of good
mixed cattle. One load was fed by E. T. Not
tingham. and the other by J. L. C. Barrow.
While both of these loads were light and mixed,
the cattle showed marks of care and attention
on the part of the feeders and both cars were
sold to an Atlanta packer. W. It. Terry, of
Shell-man, was on the market last week with
four cars of fed steers. These were light
Georgia and Alabama steers which Mr. Terry
put on feed in October and were a nice bunch
when shown in the yards. These were also
bought by the Atlanta packer. Several loads
of feed lot steers are reported for the latter
part of the week. In the face of the present
active demand, prices will doubtless continue
to be maintained.
Good killing cows are scarce. Prices are
stronger for the better weights. Medium and
light weights unchanged.
Hogs slightly higher with a moderate supply.

The old saying—what is home without
a mother—should add “Mother’s Friend.”
In thousands of American homes there
is a bottle of this splendid and famous rem
edy that has aided many a woman through
the trying ordeal, saved her from suffering
and pain, kept her in health of mind and
body in advance of baby’s coming and had
a most wonderful influence in developing a
healthy, lovely disposition in the child.
There is no otjier remedy so truly a help
to nature as Mother’s Friend. It relieves
the pain and discomfort caused by the
strain on the ligamentsv makes pliant those
fibres and muscles which nature is expand
ing and soothes the inflammation of breast
glands. t
Mother’s Friend is an external remedy,
acts quickly and not only banishes all dis
tress in advance, but assures a speedy and
complete recovery for the mother. Thus
she becomes a healthy woman with all her
strength preserved to thoroughly enjoy the
rearing of her child. Mother’s Friend can
be had at any drug store at $1.00 a bottle,
and is really one of the greatest blessings
ever discovered for expectant mothers.
