Yesterday was a lovely tlav.
The North Georgian is now printed
in the school house.
* %
Considerable activity in our cotton
market since last Friday.
All who owe for the North Georgian
ought to call and pay up.
Mrs. J. M. Owen will please accept
our thanks fora pitcher of excellent
tomato catsup.
Sam Oliver is the most polite and
accommodating telegraph operator on
the Air Line road.
Our old and good friend. Barton
Thrasher, we are glad to state, is
now located in Bellton.
Don't forget that our merchants are
paying the top prices for cotton, and
selling goods at bottom figures.
Our correspondents are still water
bound, but we trust they will swim
ashore and give u- an account of the
deluge.
Last Tuesday we enjoyed a mess
of fresh and tender snap beans, for
which we return thanks to Airs. W. J.
Hyder.
IVe now inform our friends and
everybody else, that we don't want
any butter—chicken gravy is good
enough for us.
.John B. Hunter has a gnord on his
place that weighs forty-file and a half
pounds. He thinks of exhibiting it at
the next centennial.
Bev. E. S. A’. Briant request all
who owe him for "Giant-'’ to call and
settle. He and notes w ill be found at
Coggins A Conn's store.
Miss Mary Hyder, the ladle of our
town, left for Atlanta, last Monday
where she will spend several weeks
with relatives and friends.
D. M. Breaker & Son will supple
whatever you need in the wav of
dtugs, at the very lowest prices for
cash. Call and see for yourself.
We have moved our office into the
building lately occupied as. a school
house, where our friends and patrons
will find us ready to serve them.
•Cousin’ .John Thrasher was in town
the other day. As soon as he made his
appearance, all the chickens in this
neighborhood ‘took to the woods ’
Dr. Breaker and wife will occupy
the room in rear of the drug store,
during the winter, that the Doctor
may be convenient to iiis office. Call
there.
Mrs. Wilkie, who was confined to
her bc # d about three months, we are
gratified to learn, has recovered, and
is now on a visit to her relatives and
friends, near Stone Mountain.
Wc would remind our friends who
have notes and accounts due first of
November, that it is close at hand,
and we expect them met promptly.
J. ('. Qiillian A Bros.
We are requested to inform our
country friends, that the railroad eat
ing house, at this place, will be open ;
on and after .‘Sunday next, and that
cash will be paid for butter, chickens,
eggs and till kinds of edibles.
See the big mlVerti.sement of Fred.
Bell & Co., and if you want a good,
cheap ami light-running sewing ma
chine, call on Mr. Briant, at Bellton.
The ‘Stewart - is very popular in this
section, as it never fails to give entire
satisfaction.
Conductor Williams and Engineer
Chatham, of M. T. No. 1. brought the
refulgent rays of their beautiful coun
tenances to bear upon us, the other
day. They are the best looking men
on the Air Line road, and we pity the .
other employes.
Mr. R. M. Cheshire, of Gainesville,
who was on his way to Athens, to
take a situation on the Daily Banner,
spent a short time in our town, last
Monday. ‘Rap' is a clever boy and a
good compositor, and we trust he will
capture a ‘fat take' in Athens.
The best looking old man in Hall
county, or any other county, is now
measuring calico for Coggins & Conn,
lie is polite and accommodating, and
seems as happy when selling a spool
of thread, paper of pins or needles,
as to sell seventeen yards of calico.
We have bad much sickness in <
Bellton for some, weeks past. Mes.-rs.
Conn, Myers and Briant have all been
unwell, and Air. Tom Sumner is quite
sick now. But we are pleased to know
thatunder the careful and skillful treat- 1
ment of Dr. Dillard, the sick are all
doing well. No community in Georgia '
has greater reason to be satisfied with '
a physician than Bellton has, and it is j
gratifying to us to know that he enjoys
the utmost confidence of our people. <
OBITUARY.
Sacred to the memory of little
Richard Lafayette Martin, sou of
Richard and Nancy E. Alartin. of
Gillsville, Ga., who departed this life
September 14tlg LS79—aged 3 years.
7 months and 15 days.
Little Dick was a cht rub indeed—
full of love and affection. It may
appear strange that one so voung
would develop so much sweetness
ami affections; yet when we remem
ber that God was preparing his little
soul for transplanting in Heaven, all
the mystery is removed.
1 .it tJe I tick was a dear lover of sing
iug, ami had learned several pieces
that he could sing; but his favorite
was "That beautiful lai d." which he '
would sing daily. Xo doubt if we
could hear bis voice t< -day. wafted
back from "that beautiful land," it i
would so thrill our souls, that we .
would drop our pen and listen in
breathless ami holy admiration, while ;
our souls would respond in shouts.
“Oh! I long. Oh! 1 long to be there." j
lie has left behind and
mother, several sisters and a brother
to mourn bis loss. But we say weep
not. lie "has gone to the laud on '
high." to await your coming.
His body rests at Timber Ridge, to '
await the resurrection.
farewell, dear object of this life—
our spirits gone from sin ami strife ; '
And in that land so fair and bright
Has endless day without a night.
5 es, little Dick has gone to rest
His sainted soul among the blest.
And mid the throng, the angel band.
He shouts Oh glory. "Beautiful land." ■
A < s. in the tomb his bodv lies
His spirit dwells above the skies.
And in that land i f sweet repose
It blooms a truly Eden rose.
1 him father, mother, do not weep,
His little body is just asleep—
In that bright land his soul will st.n\
To welcome you in that great dav.

We take pleasure in calling atten

school, and trust the people of that
beautiful little town will patronize
ami encourage the school. Tin prin
cipal. Bros. E. B. Mickel. is a North

The Journal, published at Otsego.
X'ew A ork. says of him : “Bros. E. B.

day for Georgia, where he is going as
a teacher. Air. AL is a young man
| well worthy the inspect ami esteem
; of all. .and we have no doubt but that
success awaits him in that Southern
clime. He has- given general satisfac

The Smida \ Bhono'ri’apli. of Atlanta,
is the best weekly paper published in
the State. Its columns contain some
thing to please everybody. It is a
bold, fearless paper; attacking official
corruption in high and low places. It
is a good family paper, in every sense
<>f the word, and we advise our read
ers to subscribe, for it, if they want a
good paper from the Capital. A spe
cimen copy can be seen at this office.

The invention of that Superior and
Complete Sewing Machine (the Fam
ily Shuttle Machine), marks one of
the most important eras in the history
of machinery, ami when we consider
its great usefulness and extremely
low price (525), it is very difficult to
conceive of any invention for domes
tic use of more or even equal impor
tance to families. It has great ca
pacity for work; beautiful, smooth,
and quiet movement, rapid execution,
certainty of operation, and delightful
ease, that at once commends it above
till others. The working parts are all
steel; the bobbins hold 100 yards of
thread ; the stitch is the firmest of all
the stitches made, neat and regular,
and can be regulated in a moment to
sew stitches from an inch in length
on coarse material down to the finest,
so infinitesimal as to be hardly dis
cernable with the naked eye, and
with a rapidity rendering it impossi
ble to count them as fast as made ; it
does to perfection all kinds of heavy,
coarse, plain, fine, or fancy needle
work with ease, and far less labor
than required on other machines. It
needs no commendation, the rapid
sales, increasing demand, and volun
tary encomiums from the press, and
the thousands of families who use
them, amply testify to their undoubt
ed worth as a standard and reliable
household necessity, extending its
popularity each day. Agents wanted
by the company. ‘Address them for
information. Family .Sewing Ala
chine Co., 755 Broadway. New York.
