A Gigantic Hack Story.
A gigantic rock fell into the narrow
canon bet ween Hook Creek and Cham
berlain Flats, Klickitat County, W.
recently, from a ledge one thousand
seven hundred feet high. It struck a
band of roveuty-ttve sheep, killing nearly
all of them; then bounded and struck
the mountain on the opposite side,
breaking in twain, one part dying into
the swamp and imbedding itself out of
sight, while tho other ground ltr.clf in
pieces against a ledge of rock, mulling
nn unbearable sulphurous smell nml
great heat.—Jdalin Ntnlrtwmn.
Uncle Mam's Wavy.
in a communication published in tho
Army and Navy Journal, Commander J,
H. Ooghlnn, U, H. N., states that the
consultations of eminent naval and other
surgeons, respecting his rheuumtio at
tack, failed to afford him the slightest re
lief. By advice of Dr. Hoyle he used

all tho pictures nud descriptions relate to
feats and beasts to bo seen in bis show ;
but the show itself is not mentioned,
and it is only when the posters are put
up nud the familiar ohjoctH emblazoned

wUl bs continued for three months. Tint
Sun states that the cironlation at Its several
editions last year was 55,6.16,010, niralnst 50,
l!36,010 the year previous. Tun Sun, while
it furnishes a live and generally acceptable
newspaper at a very low rats, expends u
wrest deal of money to advertise the fnet.
' This is cue of the secrets of its success. Tint
Sun believes that every man should sub
scribe for nnd liberally support his local

this ooUsoidntiously nnd faithfully, it advi-

. Under date of July ‘J, 1882, E. B. Bright, of
Windsor Locks. Conn., writes a plain, modest
narrative, which, from its very simplicity, has
tho true ring of fine gold. He says: “My
father is using Hunt's Remedy and seems to
bo improving, in fact, ho is very much hotter
than ho has been for a long time, lio had boon
tapped throe times. Tito first time they goi
from him sixteen quarts of water, the second
time thirteen quarts, and fully as much moro
the third time, and ho would constantly fill up
again every time after ho had been tapped,
until he commenced using Hunt’s Remedy,
which acted like magic in hia case, as lio
begun to improvo at once, and now his
watery accumulation passes away through
the eefcretions naturally, nnd lie has none of
that swelling or filling up which was bo
frequent before tho functions of the kidneys
were restored by tho uso of Hunt’s Remedy,
He is a well known citizen of this place, and
has always been in business hero.’’
Again he writes, November 27,1882:
“I beg most cheerfully nr.d truthfully to
state, in regard to Ilnurs Remedy, that its
use was the saving of my father's life. I
epoke to you in my previous letter in regard
to his h6ing tanped three timoj. It is tho
most comarkabio case that has ever been
hoard of in this section. For a man of his
years (sixty years) it is a most remarkable
euro. Ho had been unable to attend to his
' business mere than a year, and was given up
by the doctors. Tho first bottle of Hunt's
Remedy that he noed gave instant relief. Ho
has U3ed in all seven bottles, nnd continues
to use it whenever he fools drowsy or slug
gish, and it afford; instant rolief. Ho is now
attending to his regular business and has boon
tovoral months. I am perfectly willing that
you ahcnld publish this lot tor, aa wo thor
oughly believe that father’s life was saved by
utmg Hunt’? Remedy and those facts given
nbovo mny bo a benefit to others suffering in
like manner from diseanee or inaction of ihi
