Payne filled his ap pointment at Dallas mot Ding and evening service Sunday last, preaching to large congregations, and right here we would mention that perhaps no city, town or community in Georgia cau boast of a quieter or more attentive peoplu in church than the church going people of Dallas. It- speaks well for the ministers in charge of the churches. Saturday next, 28 th iiiHt, is the day for the organization of the Paulding County Sunday .School Association. The proceedings • will be held at the Baptist church, and it is earnestly desired that there may be a full and complete representation from every Sun day School in the county. Messrs Roberts’s expect to complete their contract in about a month, and it is hoped to have the house complete by that time ready for Quarterly meeting, at which time it can be dedicated. Rev. Mr. Payne is an indefatigable worker in the cause Three ThuiiHaail Feet of I.umlier. Thirty dollars worth of first class lumber from one lone leaf pine tree looks fabulous, but this is the way of it: The tree furnish ed two stocks 25 feet each, four nocks 16 ier-t each, one stoi'k 24 feet, and four short stocks not loss than 10 feet each, in all elev en stocks aggregating in length one hundred and thirty feet, and tho smallest stock measured nnout twelve inches iu diameter. Hurrah for old Paulding ! Wo’ll put that tree against mty tree iu piuerios of Georgia or Curoliua. Now we are truthful jourhalist, bi.t if our word is not a sufficient bond in this case just ask Bill Mathews or Cis Pool, they heard Wash Lawrence tell it, and Mr. Lawrence saw H.-n y Davis when lie had it cut and measured.
