M, Gann, occu pied the chair. On account of services being hold at the Baptist church upon the snmo evening tlo attendance was limited to the Vice, Prof. Jnnies Jireckenridge, Col. Clus. D. McGregor, Col. W. K. Fielder and Judge Pete Davis. Au impromptu debate upon the all absorbing negro problem was proposed, and accepted unani mously, and soon the bright scintillations from the poles of thought, which fully illuminated the hall as well as the subject, from each battery, and which was only equalled by the noise they made with their mouthi, would liavo persuaded a cansnal listener that the question was about to be fully and finally settled. We learn the sitting chairman haa survived the conflict, as he has been seen upon the streets since; but as to the audience, which consisted of a gendeman innocently enticed within the pule Yrf the auditorium of the speakers, we have not learn ed of his whereabouts, or his con ditinn since. We are credibly informed that the fewer the num commentary upon the enterprise and iutor.st of our citizens, inter ested in its preservation aud beauty. Let something be done at once. Cull a meeting, yon who are the fathers, brothers and sous of the dead, and let us go to work and clean off, straighten up, fence and otherwise reclaim and beautify the sacred ground. The Era now awaits a call, We have one Eight Horse Thresher Power which we will sell at a greatly reduced price. Any one needing such a n.nchine will find it to tlieir advantage to call ou us. It is a notable fuot now that the sde of whiskey is rapidly dimin ishing in Dallas; even almost to the complete suspension of the same, (and that too, more from public pressure, from thj senti ment against it, tban from the want of patronage, etc.) that the reckless and ones constant pisiol- flreing is fast ending, showing that the two evils go hand in hand. Ere long the sale of whis key will be completely barred in this county, and the practice of cairying of pistols is already al most ceased, and then an era of peace will reign, such as old Paulding has never heretofore enjoyed.
