■ A MALARIAL VICTIM.
J^nprlrnmil'n Prominent
Icr In the Tr«|»ir* tmd ni llieNortn.
To Viik. Editor:
The following circumstance*, drawn from
my personal experience, are so important
and really remarkable that 1 have felt called
upon to make them public. Their truth can
be amply verified: *
In 18.5 I moved from Canton. St. l.n\vronce
county, N. Y., to Florida, which State l in
tended to make my future residence. I pur
chased n home on t lie banks of the St. John s
river and settled down, as 1 thought ? for
life. The summer following the first winter
I was conscious of most peculiar s i s itious
which seemed to be tl e accompaniment of a
change of climate. I felt a sinking at the
pit of the stomach, accompanied by
occasional * dissiness and nanson. My
head r.clieti. My limbs pained mo and I
had nir^dppressive seine of weariness.
I had a thirst for acids an 1 my appetite was
weak and uncertain. My digestion was im
paired aud my food did not assimilate* At
that I imagined it was the effort of nature to
become acclimate .1. and sol thought lit tl©
of it*. Bnt my troubles increased until I bo-
oflma.juatle>8 and feverish, and the physi-
iiuliTalMlVi ill 11 was suffering from mu-
larinlwover. I’his continued in spit© of all
the best physicians could do, and I kept
growing steadily worse. In the year IK)
my. physicians informed me a (hinge
of climate was nb- o'nfely necessary—-that 1
could nut survive another summer in the
South. I determined to return North, l*ut
no*, to the extreme portion, and so 1 took up
my iosi(fence at Upper Sandusky in Central
< )hio. Tho change did not work the desired
euro and 1 again consulted physicians. 1
found they were unable to effect n perma
nent cure, and when tho. extreme warm
weather of summer came on I grew
so ifiuch woraj that I gave up
all hope. At that time 1 was suffering
terribly. How badly, only those can appre
ciate'who have contracted malarial disease in
tropical regions. It seemed ns if death
would be a relief greater than any other
blessing. But notw ithstnndiug all this, 1 am
lmppy to state that 1 am to day a perfectly
well and healthy man. How I came to re
cover ho remarkably c m bo understood from
tho following card voluntarily published by
me in the Bandusky (Ohio) liepublican,
entitled:
HONOR T(j WHOM HONOR IS DUE.
Editors Uki'iiblican j During my recent
visit to Upper Sandusky, so many inquiries
were made relative to whut nndioiuo or
course of treatment had brought such a
. marked ohnngc pi my system, 1 tool it to be
II uo to the proprietors amt to tho public to
state flint 'Varner’s Safe Kidney and Liver
(lure accomplished for me what other medi
cines ami-physicians had failed to do. Tho
mala rial poison which hud worked its way B >
thoroughly through inysyst ;m during my five
years residence in Florida had brought mu
to the verge of the grave, and physi-
.oinns had pronounced my c/iso incurable;
hilt that is not to be wondered at, ns it was
undoubtedly one of tho worst on record.
Hough Brothers, of your city, callod my at
tention to tho mo Heine referred to, and in
duced ino to try a few bottles. Ho marked
was tho change after four week’s trial that I
continued its uso. and now, after throe
months, the cure is complete. This is not
.written for the bonefit of Warner it Go.,-but
tor llio public, and especially for any person
1 toubleei with malaria or bilious attacks.”
Such is tho statement I made, without so
licitation, after my recovery, and such I stand
by at tho present moniont. Iam convinced
that Warner’s Safe Cure is all it iR claimed to
be, and as such dosorves the groat favor it
* has received. A remedy which can cure tho
severest caso of tropical malaria of live
jours’ standing certainly cannot fail to euro
those minor malarial troubles which arc ho
prevalentnml yet so serious.

The 1*0011 Boy.—Taimoge, speaking
of the late Gov. Stephens of Georgia,
says:—Think of a barefoot boy walking
all the way from his home in the
mountains and going about tho edges of
the town timidly as lung for tho man
who ‘‘educates poo boys.” This
poor, half-naked lad, this benighted and
linmorlal soul aspiring to something
highe r I linn his savage lino in the
mount lins, had heard there was a man
in the? city who “odecated poo boys;”
and he came limping down alone and
hungry in soul aud body asking for that
man, whoso name ho could not even re
member. At last he found some one in
telligent enough to point him out the
house of Stephens, of Georgia. And ho
got his e ducation, thank God.

in my bnck, and my legs were vnry badly swollen, at

urged me to try Hunt’s Remody, stating that
be knew of the wonderful cures of several parties who
bad taken this medicine, In oases which se«ined very

r The Two Misers.
AN OLD HEBREW LEOEND,
A miser living in Kufa had heard that
in Basaora also there dwelt a miner—
more miserly than himself, to whom he
■night go to school, and from whom he
might learn much. He forthwith jour
neyed thither, aud presented himself to
the great master as a humble ootnmenccr
iu the Art of Avarice, anxious to
icarn, and under him to become a stu*
dent.
‘ ‘ Welcome !” said the miser of-Basaora;
■‘wo will go into the market to moke
some purchases.”
They went to the baker.
‘ ‘ Hast thou good bread ?”
“ Good, indeed, my masters, and fresh
nnd soft as butter. ”
“ Mark this, friend,” said the miner of
Bnssora to the one of Kufa, “butter is
compared with bread as being the better
of the two; as we cap only consume a
small quantity of that, it will also be the
cheaper, and we shall therefore act more
wisely, and more savingly too, in 'being
satisfied with butter.”
They they went to the butter mer
chant, and asked if he had good butter
“ Good, indeed, and flavoiy and fresh
ns the finest olive oil,” was the answer
“ Mark this, also,” said the host to lus
pest, “oil is compared with the very
best butter, and therefore by muoh ought
to be preferred to the latter.”
They next went to the oil vender
Have you good oil?”
“ The very beat quality, white and
transparent as water,” was the reply.
“Mark that, too,” said the m£er of
Bassorato the one of Kufa; “by this
nde water is the very best Now, at home
I have a pailful, and most hospitably
therewith will I entertain you. ” V Y
And, indeed on their return, nothing
but water did he place before his guest
Wo. US 4i. they h , ftl3 leamed that water was
better than oil, oil better than butter
butter better than bread. UOTer ’
