Rev. J, S. Reynolds lias been
called to the pastorate of Pop
lar Springs church, and will
preach his first sermon at that
place on next Sunday, the 15 th.

ship, end everybody, at ihe church
at 8 o’clock, for the purpose of or
ganizing a Sabbath School; and
no doubt the school will be in at
tendance at the forthcoming cele
bration.

through a reliable source that Dr.
H Robertson’s name wai placed
upon the first ticket without- his
knowledge or consent. It is also
said Rev. Mr. Brown’s name was
placed at the head of the same
ticket before he w.ts notified of it.

Mi. Marion Roberts, who made
the attempt at suicide by cutting
his throat Juno 30th.. while lit-
boring undei an attack of mmital

jury ever since,died last Saturday
afternoon about 2:30 o'clock, and
was Duri-yd at High Shoals church
on Sunday morning, Mr. Rob
erts was about fifty years old.aud

His surroundings were *11 that
heart could wish. A good wife
throe boys and one girl, bright
beautiful and promising children;
a splendid f irm ani all the equip
ments to run it. His rale of life
was to owe no man anything, but
the maddening fevet of the br iu
came along, and one more good
citizen has paid the penalty. The
ways of Providence ar) mysteri
ous to man. The bereaved widow
and family have the sympathies
of ail.
