Wo think the salary if the super intendent and board of his family will amount to about six hundred rtollans per annum, and consider ing the number of inmates being four at the pioseut time, an l the duties likely to be required of the snperinteudnut not very bimlou- Homo, we fear that without re trenchment and nioro economy it is likely to be run at a loss to the county, but wo nope for the best, and as the arranguncut puts the paupers of the county ou the 1 - same footing we hope it will be a . successful experiment, and inure : 1 to the benefit of the county if properly managed.—Com in i ttoe; M. J. Florence, J. 1-', Ragsdale, J. W. Reeves. We find the amount of taxable property on lie digest of 1882 to bo $1,400,114, from which for that year the county tax was $0,800.7!) We fiud amount of taxable prop erty on digost of 1883 to be $1,- 425,018) on which wo recouiniond a tax for county purposes, which added to thi state tax will m ike sixty-five cents ou the hundred dollars, includiug state tax on the state tax to bo levied for the cur rent year for general county pur poses. We further fiud a default in giving in property on tho di gest of improved lands, $52,083, and on digest of wild laud no find a further sum of $22,258, which laBt amount is produced by an average of forty dollars per lot «*h said wild laud, to all of whioh we recoin in nil the t>x receiver to a'Qierf as a guide for the coming year. .We have appointed Dr. T. J. Jester and Dr. W. 0. Conually dn the board of health for this county. In view of the passage of ail act to create a board of commission- same. Also the road from Seals bridge to (Jray’s mill is in bad order,the same not having been worked in »- year or more. We fiud tho bridge at Gray’s mill in very bad ore’er, and dangerous, the flcor in such condition, and tho bnuistering gone entirely in several places, that there is liability ut any day to serious accidents, that might costs the county many times tho cost of the necessary repairs re quired it tho present time, We and records oil the same free from blcts and erasures, and with great neatness. Tho Tax-Collector lays before our body bis record of receipts for special liquor tax. As he lias not y*'t con meuced the collection of the tax for tho current year we have no report to make upon his book of collection of poll and property tax. We find on tho road from Dallas to Car- tersville, 111 William bone's lane, a very bad plaiv which ought to lie worked by the road hands,and the Ordinary is requests J t > see that the same is worked at nit early date.
