Those English Fortunes.
People never get tired of being duped
by stones of immense fortunes of whioh
they are the hein. The tateet story ot
this kind comes from Illinois. Some one
announced that the deecendants of Gov
ernor Bradford, of whom there are about
seventy thousand alive, were sole heirs’
to a fortune of 1100,000,OOOnow lying in
the vaults of the Bonk of England, ud
followed np the announcement with a
circular offering for the modest reward
of one dollar from each heir to collect
this pretty sum. A dollar la not much
to pay for a fortune; and a great many

An English brig lying in the harborof
Corunna reoently hoisted at her main-
most a Fenian flag. The flog was green
with a white cross in the centre. At the
same time she wsa flying a small En
glish flag at her foremast The English
Consul sent a messenger to order the
captain to lower the green flag, but the
messenger met with rough treatment on
the vessel. The Consul than summoned
the assistance of the Spanish Coast
Guard, and eventually a party of armed
sailors boarded the vessel and removed
the objectionable flag. An inquiry has
been instituted into the circumstanoe of
tbs affair. -
