May the people of Gainsville learu to ap preciate their true merit. Ribon Cane.—Mr. J. J. Wood, of N bo, exhibits the first specimen of the above sugar cane grown in this county s > far this year. He used the same dodge iu this instance that he was oharged with iu the case of the Tilden boy, viz; procured tho aid of Mr. Davis’s little boy to assist in driving ■ cow that he had bought about two miles dowu the road, and af ter travelling the given distance, and when a suspicion began to shadow the little fellows mind that something was wrong, he then, as in the first instance,inter posed his power, and by force would have carried him on, but it stems the resistance of tho boy was si ccossful in this last case, aud the little fellow made his es cape. The best application to that fellows dirty hide would be an application of tar and feathers. No Court. His Honor, Judge Branham was on hand promptly at 2 o’clock and the usual bevy of attorneys last Monday afternoon. But his honor only opened court to adjorn immediately, on account of the unavoidable absence of one or two attorneys, and the still more important event that is to come off at the residence of his honor in Rome this (Thursday) evening. One of his lovley and accomplish ed daugh'ers will be led to the alter of Hymen to-night by a gen tleman, we learn, from Atlanta, there to take upon themselves the vows that m-ke them of twain one flesh.
