We are pained to learn that Mrs. Robert Moon is still very low With typhoid fever. Mrs. Moon has been confined to her bed for several weeks, Bring your cotton to Dallas, tho buyers are paying as much or more than you can get for it in Atlanta or Rome. Postively, cotton brings better prices in Dallas than any town in North Georgia. Mr. J. W, Atchison brought in the heaviest bale of cotton that has been sold in Dallas this season. It weighed over 700 pounds. We are requested to announce that the Quarterly meeting of the Paulding County Sunday School Association will be held at Flint Hill on Friday, Oct 5th. Be sure and attend the bush ar bor meeting at Pine Ridge, com mencing next Friday night, 28tli. inst. Senator Colquitt and other ministers of note will be present, and assist in carrying on the mee ing. Wagons loaded with cotton keeps the squire blocaded from morning until night thus showing that the people are realizing the truth, that Dallas is the best cot ton market m this section of the state, Capt. Mill edge, of Atlanta, was in Dalian a few days last week in the interest of Mr. Geo. O. Wil kins, who was found guilty of selling whiskey without city li cense, and fined by the Mayor in the [sum of $137.}. The case has been carried up to the Supe rior court and Mr. W r ilkins re quired to give bond. Mr. Garie Spinks has resumed work ou his brick hotel building, on the street leading to the depot, ani is , pushing things forward with a vita. When this buildiug is completed it will be an orna ment to that portiou of towu in which it is located. An interesting casecnme up be - fore Esq. W. A. J. Lee last week. Mr. E. M. Carter had brought suit against the E. T. V. & Ga rail road company for damages to the amount of sixty dollars. About the first of last May one of the company's engines ran against and knocked off the track a cow and broke her leg and otherwise damaged her, tins property of Mr. Carter, who valued her very highly for her many excellent qu ilities. The little hoy who was stolen by Chas. Ogletree sometime since in Jackson county, Ala., was res cued from the villianB clutches onedny last week in Coweta coun ty, five or six miles from Seuoia. He gave a full history of his suffering while in the villians clutches. Ogletree whipped him thrie times severely, once for dropping behind and hiding, .igniu for not beirg able to keep uj) with him, and a third tim; for talking. Ogletree’s pursuers were so close on him he was com pelled to leave the boy and look to his own safety, several shots were fired at him as he was flee ing before his pursuers. It was teported that Ogletree was seen in the vicinity of Hiram on Sat urday evening, uutl we are in formed that the citizens iu that vicinity turned out almost to a m-i. and sc aired the country in every direction, but /ailed t.< come up with tho dirty villiun. He had better make himself scarce in this county, our people have had enough trouble with him, and if they come up with linn we do not pretend to say what the consequence would be. Death of Mr, .1. II. Weaver, Jr. Again we are called upon to perform I lie sad duty of clironi- clin ' the death of one of our citi- izeus. Mn J. H. Weaver, Jr., sou of Col. and Mrs. J. H Weaver, died at the home of his parents on Monday morning, the 24th. iu»t., of typhoid fever. Mr. Weav er had been sick about five weeks before the cold hand of death re lieved him of his suffering. Fr^m the very beginning ol his illness he was given every care and at tention possible by relatives and friends, and the very best of med ical skill procured for him, but it seemed that no power on earth could stay the onward course of the mala ly, and the young man breathed his last about 9 o’clock Monday morning surrounded bv relatives and friends who deeply feel and mourn his untimely' ta king off. It is indeed sad for a sorrowing father and a tearful mother to sea their children die while in the very flower of youth. Mr. Weaver was a young man well fitted for business, having a liberal education and rare men tal abilities. His remains were placed to rest in the Dallas cem etery on Tuesday evening in the presence oi a large number of our people, who deeply feel his lots.
