' It is'said that it costs the Stnte of Georgia $14,588.88 per month to maintain her lunatic asylum. Secretary Manning has resigned and will probably, accept the presi dency of a New.York bank. Gath, has discovered that there is no great clamor among intelli gent republicans for Brother Blaine Col. I. W. Avery, of Atlanta, is in charge of a division of the treasury department at Washing ton, D.C. The State technological school is to be located at Peter’s rark, between Peachtree and Marietta streets, Atlanta. The Presbyterian ministers in Atlanta condemn progressive eu chre as a game not to be allowed their church members. Last Wednesday evening just at dark William Rogers a small boy about eleven years old, and the on ly child of a widow, was instantly killed by a south bound E. T. V. A G. freight train. It appears from the evidence of two witnesses, and the surround* ing circumstances, that the boy had either climbed or was attempting to climb on a train that was just pulling into a siding at Dallas. One of the witnesses, a woman, states that she told him he had bet ter keep away from the train and that he replied that he would ride to the depot. The train passed on and as she was walking on the track just behind it she saw the mang led body on the rail. The head was entirely severed from the body. The right thigh was finished from the hip to the knee and the foot turned up under the right arm. The right arm was cutintwoabout the elbow and the left hand was cut off. There were, of course, other slight bruises. No one knows exactly how lie caine to fall under the car, but it was one of those slips that any one is liable to make who attempts to board a moving train. The remains, after being neutly prepared by the rniloud authorities, wore interred in the Dallas ceme tery. Miss Lula Hurst, the “Georgia Wonder,” wus married the 9th inst. to Mr. Paul M. Atkinson of Madison, Ga. An Agricultural paper figures it that when hind is worth $20 an acre, one glass of beer at five cents would represent a piece of land nine feet wide and'twelve feet long. Stewart and Miss Cordelia Dean were united in the holy bonds of matrimony last Sun day morning, Rev. T. W. M. Brown officiating. There has been 537 marriages in Haralson in the last ten years, an d there is still a good crop of niar- riagblo people left. Doaglasville Star. Measles in town. How is prohibition since court. ?
