IN MEMOIUAM.
Departed this life in Dallas on
last Monday the 11th instant,
about 0 o’clock p. m., Thomas J
Cooper, Jr 1 son of Mr. and Mrs. T
J. Cooper of this place. Tom had
been reasonably [stout up to the
first of this year, but since that
time be had grown weaker up to
about a month ago, ho became so
weak that he gave up all hope and
took his bed aud was not uble to
bo up any more, Tow had just
arrived to manhood and was full
of hope 1 and was one the best bus
iness young men Dallas has ever
sent out. He was very much be
loved by tho boys of his age and
highly respected by all who knew
him, the pride of his parents and
doarly beloved by the entire fatui
ty-
But a short while ago he pro
fessed and was received into the
Dallas Methodist church last week,
leaving behind him the consoling
thought that all was well with
him, and that he had gone to rest.
To the weepiug family and friends
this is worth more than all else.
Therefore through the cloud of
sorrow that covers the hearts of
the bereaved family will break
forth the several thoughts as ex
pressod in the following lines, that
will make them feel that he is not
‘‘Brother, though from yonder sky
Cometh neither voice nor cry,
Yet we know for thee to-day
Every pi in hath passed away.
Not for thee shall tears be given,
Child of God, and heir of heaven;
For he gave thee sweet release;
Thine the Christian’s death of peace.
Well we know thy living faith
Had the power to conquer death;
As a living rose may bloom
By the border of the tomb.
Brother, in that so'emn trust
We commend 'hee, dust to dust;
In that faith we wait, till, risen,
Thou shalt meet us all in heaven.
While we weep asjjesus wept,
Thou shalt sleep as Jesus slept;
With thy Saviour thou shalt rest,
Crowned, and glorified, and blest.”
