would not give you particular satisfaction,
to communicate in the Farmer, any means
of mitigating the soffrin^s which Mothers

congenial and healthful sustenance. There
is perhaps in the catalogue nf human pains,
none more acote than thorfe which are ex
perienced from the gathering of th** female

powdered alum* and as much of rosin,- this
mixture should be put into a pewter ves
sel and mixed weli together, then put over
a slow fire and stirred all the time with the
finge *-until it conies to a consistence that

A plaster of this spread over the breast
before the child is put to them, will prevent
thejr gathering, or should a flS^er at any

should immediately prevent gathering-—
should mutter be formed before the appli

kept covered with a thick brow-, paper
n>ade wet with ram, and the salve over the
diseased part only; when it breaks, there

Institution. Several thousand people Were
Collected together, and such was the anxie
ty to rush forward and have a fair view of
the General, that it was iliffi mlt for the car
riage to.mdvp. The cropx! also continued,
cheering all the w*y, from the City Hall to
the Institution. The Society’s rooms,' to
gether with the apartments of the Li<era
ry *.nd Philosophical Society, which was
also thown open, were erowdetl' with 1a»
dies and gentlemen—those who are mem
bers, anil those who are nnt.

and upon the same man, who, hy forty
years ha>d aervin* since,has ripened into a
good age, of wi-dom and of honors, with,
out ever by a single act tarnishing the
