of two thousand dollars, payable to tile said John
Retail, or order, on or before the 1st day of May
1824. with interest at 7 per cent per annum, by

largest class; one set to be delivered at the Navy

For two sets of Pine Beams for Frigutes of the
smaller class ; oue set to be delivered at the Navy
Yard at the City of Washington, and one -set ut
the Navy Yard at Gosport, Ya.
For fourteen Live Oak Beams for a Slop of the
Line, and eight Live Ouk Beams for a l-'rigate of
the largest class, eleven pine pieces for masts and
spars, und nine pine beams fora Ship of the Line,
and twenty-two nine pieces for masts and spars
for a Frigate of tlie Iurgest class, to be delivered
al the Navy Yard at Gosport, Va.; and for five
Live Oak Bctnns, fora Frigate of the largest ebss
uud 51 Pino Pieces for musts and spurs fora ship
to he delivered at the Navy Yard ut Brooklyn
York.
The whole of the Pine timber must be of the
best Ions'leaf, tine grained, Southern yellow pine
—and uu the timber must be free from sap, wanes,
bud knots, or defects of any kind, and subject to
the inspection and approval of the Coinmaiidunls
of the several Yards, or such other persons ns the
Commissioners of the Navy may appoint for tliut
purpose.
The proposals must stale the prices asked, per
cubic foot; and must be made separately for the
masts of eucli class of vessels, at each place. Per-
ons wishing to contract, may obtain schedules of
the nieces required, for masts, spars, nnd beams,
with their several forms nnd dimensions, by ap
plying in writing or otherwise to tlie Commission
ers, or to the Navy Agents ut Boston, New York,
Philadelphia, Baltimore, Norfolk, Va. or Charles
ton. S. C. •
Tlie Pine Beams and Plank Stock,nnd tlie Mast
ami Spar Timber, must be delivered oil or before
tlie first day of May, 1826; and the Live Ouk
Benins, on or before tlie first of November next.
All the Timber, except the Live Ouk, must be
felled, or must have been felled between tlie first
of November and the first ol March.

thirty to sixty feet, and to average forty feet in
length, top end to be not less than ten inches,and
