T O limit the amount of the Poll Tax
to be imposed on, and collected front
any free white citizen of Savannah and
Hamlets thereof,.
Whereas tjio General Assembly, of the
State of Georgia at the last Annual Meet
ing thereof enacted that the amount of the
poll lax for the said City and Hamlets
should not exceed one dollar.
lie it therefore Ordained, hy the Mayor
and Aldermen of the City of Savannah and
Hamlets thereof, in Council Assembled.
That tho amount of Poll Tax for 1829 nod
annually thereafter on any free white in
habitant of said c«y and hamlets aforesaid
shall not eyteoed. one dollar exclusive of
costs provided reinrns aro made as pre
scribed by Ordinance.
§3 .Re it further Ordianed hy the authori
/r/ aforesaid-. That all ordinances or part*
thereof, imposing a higher amount of Poll
Tax be and the same are hereby icpcalcd-
PasSed in Council *7th August, 182V.
