An Ordinance
T O limit the amount of tlie Poll Tax
to be impused on, and collected front
any free white-citizen of Savannali and
Hamlets thereof.
Whereas the General Assembly of the
State of Georgia at the last Annual Aleet
ing thereof enacted that the amount ofthe
-poll lax for the said City and Hamlets
should not exceed one dollar.
Be it therefore Ordained, by the Mayor
and Aldermen of the City of Savannah anil
Hamlets thereof, in Council Assembled.
That the amount nf Poll Tax for 1839 and
annually thereafter on any free white in
habitant of said city and Immlets aforesaid
shall not exceed one dollar exclusive oft
costs provided returns ate msdo as pre
-scribed by Urdinance. .
