CONCRESS SPRING OR SARATO
GA WATERS.
T HERE it perhaps scarcely an indi
vidual in the United States, who is
nut acquainted, either hy experience or
report, with the salutary uifecls of the
Oongrets Spring Waters at Saratoga
From thirty to 8(ty thousand persons an
nually visit riteso Springs, many from the
remotest sections of the United Slates, and
some from the West Indies, and other for
eign placet. The great expense in visiting
the Springs excludes tho greater portion of
the community, (more than nine out of
ten,) and the hottled water, from its high
price, prevents its use to tlte extent of be
ing surviceable, and confinos it to a small
number; it apponrs to lie a serious evil
that so valuables an nrticle should be to res
tricted, that comparatively few should be
able to enjoy what it so conducive to gen
eral health in tire hot weather of our sum
mer months. From these rircnmstanr.es.
Geo. W. Carpenter is pleased to announce
the preparation nf tho shave powders, con
taining all the essential substances with
which these celebrated Springs are impreg
nated, and ftom which the waters of the
Congress Springs at Saratoga ate precise
ly and effectually imitated. Willi a view
to accommodate the public, and to bring
into general use ;o convenient and valua
ble n substitute for these waters, he has
been induced to go very extensively into
the manufacture of them, to pot them at a
price to ho within the reach nf most per
sons. For the accommodation of the pub
lic, agents will be appointed in all (lie ci
ties and principal inland towns to give a
general circulation to so useful an articlo
throughout the country. The public are
recommended to make trial of iheso pow.
ders, as he finds by experience, and from
(he opinion of the most eminent of the fa
culty, that the wotor made from them pos
sesses tho same medicinal qualities, is as
cfleclunl in its operations, nnd precise in
taste, as thnt taken immediately from the
Springs. Tlieso pow ders aro therefore re
commended as a valuable remedy in all
cases where tho Saratoga Waters are pre
scribed.
Persons on sea voyages, or residing at a
distance from the springs, and in warm
climates, will at once perceive the great
udvanlogo of making use of these powders,
which besides being more portable and
less expensivo than the bottled water, srill
keep without injury for any length of time,
as they are equal in medical effect to that
taken fresh from the springs, thev are cer
tainly much preferable from the many ad
vantages they possess.
05 s * Those powders aro superior to the
Seidlitz, inasmuch ns they nre equally a-
perient and agreeable, at the same time
possessing tonic and chalybeate qualities in
a superior dogree, and are consequently
belter aduplcd to weak and debilitated
constitutions than any other cathartic in
use.
Printed directions will accompany site
powders.
