CONGRESS SPRING OR SARATO
GA WATERS.
rWSJIERE is perhaps scarcely an incli-
JL vitlual in the United States, who is
not acquainted, either by experience or
report, with tlto salutarv effects of tlto
Congress Spring Waters at Saratoga
From thirty to filty thousand persons an
nually visit these Springs, many from the
rcmotosi sections or the United States, aiii!
some from the West Indies, and other for
eign places. The great expense in visiting
tlie Springs excludes tho greater portion of
(more than nine out of
ten,) and tho honied water, from its high
trice, prevents its use to tlto extent of Ve-
nf surviecable, and confines it to a small
nnmher; it appoars tu he n serious evil
that s6 v.iluable an article should be so res
tricted, that comparatively few should he
able to enjoy what is so conducive to gen
eral health in the hot weather nf our sum
over mnmlis. From these circumstances.
Geo. W. Carpenter is pleased to announce
tho preparation of tho above powders, con-
taintngall the essential substances with
hioh these cclchratod Springs are impreg
nated, and ftotn which tlto waters of the
Congress SpringiNai Saratoga me precise.
and effectually imitated. Willi a view
accommodate the public, and to bring
into general use so convenient and valua
ble a substitute for these waters, he litis
been induced to go very extensively into
the manufacture of them, to put them at a
prico to lie within the reach of most per
sons, For the accommodation oflheptih-
lic, agents will be appointed in all tite ci
ties and principal inland towns to give a
general circulation to so useful an article
throughout the country. The public aro
recommended to make trial nf these pow
ders, ns lie finds by experience, and from
Hie opinion oftlie most eminent of the fa-
Ity, that the water made from thorn pos
sesses tlto same medicinal qualities, is as
effectual in its operations, and precise in
taste, as that taken immediately from the
Springs. These powders are therefore re
commended as a vniuabl • remedy in all
cases where the Saratoga Waters are pre
scribed.
Persons on sea voyages, or residing nt a
distance from the springs, and in warm
climates, will at once pcrceivo tile gieat
advantage of making use of these powders,
which besides being more portable, nod
less expensive tltnn the bottlod water, will
keep without injury for any length of time,
as they are equal in medical effect to that
taken fresh from the springs, thev are cer
tainly nmch preferable from the many ad
vantages they possess.
(tjr* These powders are superior to the:
Scidlitz, inasmuch ns they are equally a-
perient arid agreeable, at the same time
possessing tonic and chalybeate qualities in
a Superior degree, and are consequently
better adapted to weak and debilitated
constitutions than any other cathartic in
use;.,
Printed directions \vill accompany the
powders; . •
