CONGRESS STRING OR SARA TO
GA WATERS.
HERE is perhaps scarcely dn Indi
vidual in the United States, who is
not acquainted, either by experience nr
report, with the sauirnry elfecis of the
Congress Spring Witters at Saratoga
From thirty to Alty thousand persons an-
•vitally visit these Springs, inane from (hr
rcinoiesi sections of tho Untied Slates, nnd
some from tho West Indies, and other for
elgn places. The great expense in visiting
Hie Springs excludes the greater portion of
Ihe community, (more than nino out' of
ten,) and the honied water, from lit high
prico, prevents its use lo.lho extent of lie.
ing serviceable, and confines it lo a small
number; it nppnnrs to be a serious evil
that so valuable an nrlicle should be so res
tricted, that comparatively few should lie
alilo to enjoy wlint is so conducive to gen
eral licnllli in the hot weather of our sum
mer months. From these circumstances.
Geo. W. Carpenter is pleased to announce
tho preparation of tho above powders, con
taining nil the cssentinl substances with
which these celebrated Springs are hnpreg-
nateri, nnd flora which the waters of ilie
Congress Springs nt Saratoga ale precise
ly and effectually imitated. Willi n view
to accommodate the public, and to bring
into general use so convenient end valuu
hie a substitute for these waters, he has
been induced to go very extensively into
the manufacture of them, to put them at a
price lo be within the reach of most per
sons. For the accommodation nf Ihe pub
lic, agems will bo appointed in ull the ci
ties and principal inland 'owns lo give e
general circulation to so useful nn article
throughout the country. The public arc
recommended to make trial of these pow
ders, as lie finds by experience, end from
the opinion nf Ihe most eminent of the fa
culty, lliatthp iveter made from thorn pos
sesses the same medicinal qualities, is ns
effectual Id its operations, aud precise in
taste, as that taken immediately from the
Springs. Theso ponders are therefore re
commended as a valuabl - remedy in ell
cases where the Saratoga Waters are pre
scribed. , ..
Persons on son vo'jrnges, or residing at h
distance froiq the springs, and in wnim
climates, will at once perceive the great
advantage of making use of these powders,
which besides being more portable nnd
less expensive than the buttled water, will
keep without injury for any length of time',
as they ate equal in medical effect to that
tulioii fresh from the springs, tliev are cer
tainly much preferable from the many ad
vantages they possess.
Gy Those powders' ere superior to the
SiiUllitz, inasmuch' as they are equally a-
perient and agreeable, at the same time
possessing tonic and clinlyhcale qualities in
a superior degree, end are consequently
bettor adupted to weak end debilitated
constitutions than any other cathartic in
use.
Priiftcri directions will accompany the
powders.
