CONGRESS SWUNG OR S A RATO-
' OA WATERS.
T HERE is perhaps scarcely an indi
vidual in the United States, who is
not acquainted, either hy experience or
report, with the sa'mary effects of the
Congress Spring Waters at Saratoga
From thirty to^■ fifty thousand persons an
nually visit these Springs, many from the
remotest sections of the United Slates, and
some from the West Indies, and other for
eign places. The great expense in visiting
tlie Springs excludes the greater portion of
thu community, (ii’ioro than nino out of
ten,) and the bottled water, from its high
f trice, prevents its use to the extent of be-
ngsurviuoablo, nnd ednfines it to u small
number -, it appears to lie n serious evil
that so valuable au article should be so res
tricted, that comparatively few should be
aide to enjoy what is so conducive to gen
eral health iu the hot weather of our sum
mer mouths. From these circumstances,
Geo. W. Carpenter is pleased to announce
the preparation of the above powders, con
taining all tlie essential substances with
which theseeelohrated Springs are impreg
nated, and fiom which the wuters of die
Congress Springs nt Saratoga lire precise
ly ami effectually imitated. Willi a view
to accommodate the public, and to bring
into general use so convenient and valim
hie a substitute for these waters, lie Inis
been induced to go very extensively into
the manufacture of them, to put them at a
price to bo within the reach of most per
sons. For (lie accommodation of tire pub
lic, ageius will be appointed in ull the ci
ties and principal inland .owns io give a
general circulation to so useful an article
throughout jlm country. The public are
reuoiiiiuended to make trial of these pow.
tiers, as lie finds by experience, nnd from
the opinion of the most eminent of Ihe fa
cility, that tho water made from them pos
sesses the same medicinal qualities, is at
efleclual in ils operations, and precise in
t.istei as flint taken immediately from tlie
Spiings. These ponders arb therefore re
commended as a vnlnabl remedy in all
cases where tho Saratoga Waters are pre
scribed.
Persons on sea voyages, or residing at a
distance from Ihe springs, and ill waini
climates, will nt once perceive the great
advantage of innking use of these powders,
which besides being more portable, and
less expensive limn tlie hottlod ivaler, will
keep without injury for any length of time,
as they aro equal in medical oflect to that
taken fresh from the springs, thov are cer
tainly much preferable from the many ad
vantages they possess.
05 s " These powders are superior to tlie
Seidlitz, inasmuch as they are equally a-
perient and agreeable, at the same time
possessing tonic and chalybeate qualities in
a superior degree, end 3 are consequently
better adapted to weak and debilitated
constitutions limn any other cathartic in
use.
