CARPENTER’S
Saratoga Powders,
FOR MAKING
CONGRESS STRING OR SARATO
GA HATERS.
milERE is perhaps scarcely an ittdi-
JL vidua! in the United Slates, who is
not acquainted, either by experience or
report, with the sa’utary effects of tiie
Congress Spttng Waters at Saratoga
Front thirty to fifty thousand persons an
nually visit Ihe.Ho Springs, many front the
remotest spelions of the United States, nnd
some front tlio VVest Indies, and otlier for
eign places. The creat expense in visiting
the Springs excludes the greater portion of
the community, (moro than nine out of
ten,) and the bottled water, from its high
price, prevents its use lo.the extent of be
ing stirviouablo, and confines it to n small
number; it tinperirs to Ito n serious evil
that so v.ilonhle nit article should be so res
tricted, that comparatively few should he
able to enjoy what is so conducive to gen
eral health in the hot weather of our sum
mer months. From these circumstances,
Geo. W, Carpenter is pleased to announce
the preparation of the ahoVe powders, con--
tnining all the essential substances with
which these celebrated Springs are impreg
nated, and from which the waters of the
Congress Springs at Saratoga ate precise
ly and effectually imitated. Willi a view
to accommodate the public, and to bring
into general use so convenient und valua
ble a substitute for these waters, lie lias
been induced to go very extensively into
the manufacture of thein, to put them at a
price to lid within the reach nf most per
sons. For the accommodation of the pub
lic, agems will bo appointed in all the ci
ties and principal inland towns to givo a
general circulation to so useful an article
throughout the country. The public are
recommended to make triqj of these pow
ders, as he finds by experience, and fjom
the opinion of the most eminent of the fa
culty, that tlio water made from them pos
sesses the same medicinal qualities, is as
effectual in its operations, nod precise in
taste, as that taken immediately from the
Springs. These powders ar6‘ therefore re
commended us « vuluald . temedy iu all
cases where the Saratoga Wuturs are pro
scribed.
Persons on sou voyages, or vesiding at a
distance from the springs, and in warm
.climates, will at once perceivo tlio gtcat
advantage of making use of these powders,
which besides being more . portable aud
less expensive than the bullied water, will
keep without injury for any length of time,
as they are equal in medical effect to that
taken fresh from the springs, they are cer
tainly much preferable froth the many ad
vantages they possess.
Those powders ore superior to the
Scidlilz, inasmuch as they are equally a-
perient and agreeable, at the same time
possessing tonic and chalybeate qualities in
a superior degree, ami tiro consequently
belter adapted to weak and debilitated
constitutions tlian any other cathartic tii
use.
Printed directions will accompany the
powders.
